Day 1:

Arrival in Sri Lanka On arrival at Bandaranaike International airport, you will be met by your chauffeur /guide and transferred to the hotel in Negombo (Approx. 20 mins). The rest of the day is free to relax after your journey. Overnight stay at beach hotel in Negombo. (B/B)

Day 2:

After breakfast transfer to your hotel in Sigiriya (Approx. 5 hours). On your way, visit the Pinnawala elephant orphanage, which is home to hundreds of abandoned or injured elephants who are looked after with warmth, love and affection. The elephants at the orphanage are bathed daily in a river located nearby. Overnight stay at Sigiriya. (H/B)

Day 3:

This morning visit the ancient city of Anuradhapura (Approx. 2 hours’ drive time one way) – a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Anuradhapura was the capital of Sri Lanka from the 5th Century B.C. to the end of the 10th Century A.D. The city’s greatest treasures are its Dagobas, constructed of bricks then plastered and painted. The city’s most renowned relic is the sacred Bo Tree, which is said to have grown from a branch of the tree under which the Buddha gained Enlightenment. It was reputedly planted 2250 years ago and is the oldest historically authenticated tree in the world. Overnight stay at Sigiriya. (H/B)

Day 4:

This morning visit the Sigiriya rock fortress – a UNESCO world heritage site. The Sigiriya rock was built in the 5th Century during the reign of King Kasyapa (477-495 AD) Sigiriya is commonly called the ‘Fortress in the Sky’ and is probably the most fantastic wonder of Sri Lanka. It is also known as Lion Rock because of the huge lion that used to stand at the entrance to the Palace on the summit of the 600-foot rock.

In the evening visit Minneriya National Park for a safari. The park extends to 8,889 hectares and is well known for its large population of elephants in herds of 100 to 150 roaming in the jungle and seen in the catchment area of the lake. Other wildlife that can be sighted include wild buffaloes, wild boar, spotted deer, sloth bear, sambhar, leopards, crocodiles, jackals, and numerous species of amphibians, reptiles, birds, fish and butterflies. Day 5:

Sigiriya –Kandy, This morning you move on to Kandy (Approx. 3 hours). On the way, visit the beautiful Dambulla cave temples, which is a UNESCO world heritage. It is the largest cave monastery in the country with a history going back to the 1st century BC. They are laid out as a maze of caves, of which a handful is well worth a sighting. Overnight stay at Kanday. (H/B)

Day 6:

This morning visit the Peradeniya Royal Botanical Gardens that spread over 147 acres. Established in 1374 as a pleasure garden for the Kings of Gampola and Kandy, and later added to during British rule, the Gardens boast more than 4,000 species of trees, plants and creepers. The Spice Garden and Orchid House are very popular attractions, and five Palm Avenues add regal elegance to the setting. Of these the earliest and tallest is the Palm Avenue (Royal Palms) planted in 1905 and the most famous avenue is the one with the rare Double Coconuts from the Seychelles.

In the afternoon visit the Temple of the Tooth relic (Sri Dalada Maligawa) where the Buddhist priests perform their daily rituals to the accompaniment of horns and drums. You will also get a chance to watch a cultural show at the Temple. Overnight stay at Kanday. (H/B)

Day 7:

Kandy – Colombo Transfer to Colombo today and spend the rest of the day in the city and engage in some shopping at places like ODEL, Barefoot, Cotton Collection, Kelly Felder, etc Overnight stay at Colombo. (H/B)

Enjoy an Old Colombo Walkabout with Mark Forbes. Explore the hustle and bustle of Colombo’s amazing Pettah district in the company of an experienced local guide. Overnight stay at Colombo. (H/B)

Day 9:

Colombo – Airport, You will be transferred to the airport (Approx. 40 minutes) to catch your flight to the Maldives. On arrival a speedboat transfer to the resort. Overnight stay at beach resort Maldives.

Day 10 – 13:

Sri Lanka – Maldives, Relax on the beach for the next four nights. (F/B)
